slowly weaves his way through the small crowd gathered and stops before the shrine. He looks through red eyes at the plaque with her name engraved. Rock sank to one knee and pulled his belt knife and used it to dig a shallow hole at its base. He searched through his pocket and pulled out a bundle wrapped in rawhide and placed it into the hole, spitting on it. He quickly pushed the dirt back over it to cover the hole and rose to his feet. Using his knife again, he made a shallow cut on his forearm and held his fist over the shrine, letting a few drops of blood fall onto his. Speaking in a lowered voice he said, "This is the least I could do, my old friend." He turned and lifted his bloody fist into the air. An almighty cracking sound exploded from the silence and the shrine began to glow with a soft, white light. "Beauty for beauty." His voice cracked slightly as he said the words.
